Crimes Act 1961 Part 8 Crimes against the person (s 150A to s 210A) Assaults and injuries to the person
202A Possession of offensive weapons or disabling substances (1) In subsection (4)(a) of this section offensive weapon means any article made or altered for use for causing bodily injury, or intended by the person having it with him for such use. (2) In subsection (4)(b) of this section offensive weapon means any article capable of being used for causing bodily injury. (3) In this section disabling substance means any anaesthetising or other substance produced for use for disabling persons, or intended by any person having it with him for such use. (4) Every one is liable to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 2 years... (a) Who, without lawful authority or reasonable excuse, has with him in any public place any [knife or] offensive weapon or disabling substance; or (b) Who has in his possession in any place any offensive weapon or disabling substance in circumstances that prima facie show an intention to use it to commit an offence involving bodily injury or the threat or fear of violence. (5) It is a defence to a charge under subsection (4)(b) of this section if the person charged proves that he did not intend to use the offensive weapon or disabling substance to commit an offence involving bodily injury or the threat or fear of violence.]
202C Assault with weapon
(1) Every one is liable to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 5 years who, (a) In assaulting any person, uses any thing as a weapon; or (b) While assaulting any person, has any thing with him or her in circumstances that prima facie show an intention to use it as a weapon.

Mace Pepper sprays Stun guns Bayonets Knuckle dusters Knives incorporating knuckle dusters Sword sticks and any weapon disguised to give the appearance of another article Knives having a blade that opens automatically by hand pressure applied to a button, spring, or other device in or attached to the handle of the knife - sometimes known as "flick knife". Any knife having a blade that is released from the handle or sheath by the force of gravity or the application of centrifugal force, and that when released is locked in place by means of a button, spring, lever, or other device - sometimes known as a "gravity knife" or "butterfly knife". With the exception of any folding pocket knives with a blade less than 10cm in length, any knife that- (a) Is designated for ease of concealment on the person; or (b) Has a double-edged blade that is designed or suitable for stabbing or throwing (as opposed to cutting) (c) Is a knife of the kinds known as "urban Skinner", "terminator", "black eagle", "black dagger", or "throwing knife".
